FOUNDATION DAY 2014
On Friday 6th June 2014, the St. John the Evangelist community celebrated the 24th anniversary of the school's founding in 1990. After a usual two period morning lesson, the students and staff celebrated a mass in the hall to remember the founding of the school, the morals that are integral to the school colour houses and community and also Pentecost, which falls soon after Foundation day. This year’s mass was celebrated by Fr. Dwayne, our local priest from the St. Michaels Parish.
After mass, students were allowed to change into mufti clothing and set up stalls with their PALS class, and then were allowed to go celebrate the festival side of the day.
The Foundation Day Festival is one of the most anticipated times of the school year, as the fun and festivities that occur are very memorable. This year’s “What’s in the Box?”, a now staple for Foundation Day, was packed, filled with large numbers of students purchasing mystery boxes with the hopes of finding something interesting and lucky in their boxes.
Also this year there was Table Tennis set up in the Gym, Mini-Golf, stalls that sold cupcakes and other goodies, guessing competitions and so much more that I didn’t get round to! You can say that I’m definitely looking forward to next year’s Foundation Day. Here’s to 24 years!
